Described by Madeleine Meilleur, Ontario’s minister of community and social services, as a “jewel” on Montreal Road, this new building expansion project is an expressive space that adjoins Wabano’s existing building. It includes a cultural gathering space, afterschool programs for children, social enterprise activities for young mothers, family counseling, and social and community development initiatives. Special features include a domed gathering space with a ceremonial fire pit in the center, and an exterior curving glass facade meant to evoke water.
